Public Boat Launch
For those who are not ratepayers in the Resort Village of Big Shell, a public boat launch is available on the west shore of Big Shell Lake.

Boating
Shore-Line Speed Restrictions: Please observe the un-posted speed limit of 10 km/hr (6mph) within 30m (100 ft) from shore.  This applies to all waters within the province except where other limits are posted.  For more information, consult the Vessel Operation Restriction Regulations.

Operator Competency Requirements: The Competency of Operators of Pleasure Craft Regulations require that all operators of pleasure craft fitted with a motor have proof of competency and proof of age on board at all times.  As of September 15, 2009, all operators are required to have proof of competency.  For more information, consult the Competency of Operators of Pleasure Craft Regulations.

Life Jackets: Life jackets are required on all water craft in sufficient quantities to be worn by all persons on board.

Fishing
Big Shell Lake is a popular lake to fish for Walleye and Northern Pike and offers anglers of all skill levels the excitement of fishing.

Angling License Fees: In Saskatchewan, angling licenses range from $15.00 (3 day Saskatchewan resident) to $80.00 (annual non-resident), depending on your fishing requirements.  More information can be found here.
